‘He met a lot of girls around me,’ Cabonge claims Sibiya met several women through him
The alleged links between former top police officer Shadrack Sibiya and several girls came under scrutiny in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court, where a clip involving socialite Serge Cabonge and the father of a 16-year-old girl was heard.
Former top cop Shadrack Sibiya, now facing rape and sexual grooming charges among others, allegedly met numerous women through socialite Serge Cabonge, according to the Randburg Magistrate's Court. Cabonge claimed during a conversation with an associate of Sibiya that Sibiya had met women, including actress Tebogo Thobejane and former girlfriend of Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala.
However, M disputed this claim, stating that Sibiya did not know Thobejane. Cabonge suggested that Sibiya might have forgotten about Thobejane because he had met many women in his company. The conversation was part of the evidence presented during Sibiya's bail proceedings. Thobejane, famous for her role in the television drama Muvhango, was shot in the foot during a shooting incident on the N1 highway near Sandton in 2023, leaving a female passenger paralyzed.
The incident is part of a broader case where Matlala and four co-accused are charged with conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, unlawful possession of firearms, money laundering, and fraud.
