Haaland becomes City’s record scorer in the Champions League

Erling Haaland etched his name in City's storied Champions League history by becoming the club's record scorer, netting his 37th goal in the competition. The Norwegian striker surpassed Sergio Aguero's 36-goal mark, achieved in 64 matches, during a 53rd-minute header against Paris Saint-Germain. Haaland's remarkable goal haul comes in just his 41st Champions League appearance for the club since joining City in 2022.

In total, he has scored 60 goals in 60 appearances across Europe's top club competition, after previously scoring eight times for RB Salzburg and 15 times for Borussia Dortmund. Now the third top scorer in the club's 132-year history, Haaland has 171 goals in 207 games for City. The Manchester derby era has seen only six players surpass him in terms of total goals scored, with no other player in the top 50 even coming close to his goal ratio of one per game.

Haaland's Golden Boot win in his debut campaign, where he scored 12 times during City's historic 1-0 victory over Inter Milan, solidified his place among the elite. With nine goals in nine appearances so far this season, Haaland is poised to continue his record-breaking run and write even more history with City.
