GNFS contains Somoco warehouse fire; bushfire near TTU in Takoradi
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), with support from the Air Force Base Fire Department, has contained a fire at a warehouse belonging to Somoco Company Limited, a tricycle assembly company near the Takoradi Air Force Base, and a separate bushfire near Takoradi Technical University (TTU).
In Takoradi, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) successfully contained a warehouse fire at Somoco Company Limited, a tricycle assembly company, on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. The blaze destroyed ten tricycles but firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to nearby properties and structures. Additionally, a bushfire near Takoradi Technical University (TTU) was also brought under control.
Both incidents occurred on the same day. The GNFS investigators are looking into the cause of the warehouse fire, while preliminary reports suggest that uncontrolled refuse burning ignited the bushfire near TTU.
