Four individuals have been arrested after attempting to smuggle drugs and mobile phones into Murcia I Prison, according to the Guardia Civil. The suspects are accused of throwing packages containing 100 grams of hashish and two mobile phones over the prison's perimeter wall. Security personnel first noticed suspicious activity, with a security guard alerting the Guardia Civil.

Footage from the prison's security cameras showed a vehicle stopping near the perimeter wall, and its occupants throwing packages into the prison. Officers quickly intercepted the packages and established a surveillance operation to track the vehicle. The vehicle was stopped on the RM-611 road in El Palmar, Murcia, and its four occupants were arrested.

The Guardia Civil stated that the operation was carried out with assistance from Coviar Seguridad, a private security company. Judicial Police specialists are now conducting a further investigation into the attempted smuggling operation. The four detainees are being investigated for drug-trafficking offences related to the attempt to introduce prohibited substances into Murcia I Prison.
