The former chairman of the Bank Rakyat Foundation, Nazir Hussin Akhtar Hussin, refused to accept a notice of forfeiture from Malaysia's Anti-Corruption Agency, the Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah (SPRM). Abdul Halim Aman, the Chief Public Prosecutor of SPRM, stated that Nazir had filed a lawsuit in the Federal Court in Kuala Lumpur to prevent the execution of an order under Section 36 of the SPRM Act 2009.

According to sources, the incident took place at SPRM headquarters today, where Nazir was accompanied by his wife and bodyguard to assist in the investigation related to allegations of misappropriation of position in a RM10 million investment case. Sources said that the statements of Nazir's wife and bodyguard were recorded, while the notice in question was handed over to Nazir.

Abdul Halim said that the process of recording statements from Nazir's wife and bodyguard took about 1.5 hours. "He (Nazir), his wife and bodyguard arrived at SPRM around 11 am today and his wife and bodyguard were released at 1.15 pm," he said. However, he did not confirm whether Nazir was released as well. On October 8, Nazir accused SPRM of misusing its powers in investigating allegations of investment fraud worth RM10 million by the Bank Rakyat Foundation.

He said that the SPRM's raids on his and his elder brother Mubarak Hussin's residences, in addition to the investigation process spanning seven days, were carried out in an unprofessional manner. Furthermore, even though the agency had investigated the investment in question in 2022, he understood that no specific corruption or malpractice was confirmed.
