Apple confirms Siri AI is not coming to the original HomePod mini
Siri AI is a tentpole addition to HomePod mini 2, but a CNET report today originally claimed Siri AI was coming to older HomePod mini models too. However, the story has since been updated with a correction and 9to5Mac received a statement confirming Siri AI will be exclusive to HomePod mini 2. more…
Apple has confirmed that its Siri AI feature will not be available on the original HomePod mini, contrary to a recent report by CNET. The news outlet initially claimed that the older HomePod mini would receive Siri AI compatibility later this year alongside updates to iOS 27.2. However, this information has since been corrected, and Apple has affirmed to 9to5Mac that Siri AI will only be exclusive to the newer HomePod mini 2 and Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later) models.
The original HomePod mini, which debuted six years ago, features a S5 chip that is considered outdated for AI tasks. Apple's decision to limit Siri AI to more recent HomePod mini models and Apple TV 4K suggests a strategic focus on improving performance on newer hardware.
