In a UEFA Champions League match, Atletico Madrid secured a 2-0 victory over Manchester United on Tuesday. The Spanish team's victory came after Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman scored a crucial goal from the bench in the 79th minute, following Pablo Barrios' early opening goal in the first minute. Lookman capitalized on Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens' save of Jonathan David's shot to score the decisive goal.
Manchester United's loss was further compounded by the dismissal of defender Leny Yoro, leaving them with 10 players as they struggled to equalize, with Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes failing to capitalize on their chances. The match also saw a disallowed goal for Atletico due to a VAR review of Marcos Llorente's handball. This win marked Atletico's first victory in the Champions League league phase this season, while Manchester United faces a setback as they prepare to face Como on the same day.
