Real Madrid Legends and Barcelona Legends set to play in Kolkata in November

Kolkata, West Bengal, India - Sports Minister Indranil Khan has announced a unique El Clásico clash featuring Barcelona legends and Real Madrid legends at Salt Lake Stadium on November 25, 2026. The two Spanish soccer powerhouses have a fierce rivalry, with their matches in La Liga, UEFA Champions League, and other competitions often referred to as El Clásico.

This announcement follows the Salt Lake Stadium's hosting of two international friendlies for the Indian national team. The first match was against Brazil on October 3, resulting in a 4-0 defeat for India, while the second friendly was against Uruguay on October 6, ending in a 1-1 draw. Both matches were marked by star-studded line-ups, with Brazil featuring players like Vinicius Jr., Marquinhos, and Estevao, as well as India welcoming Samuel Lino and Pedro.

Notably, Anirudh Thapa managed to equalize for India against Uruguay, becoming only the second Indian player to score against the two-time world champions in a senior international match. This historic goal came in India's 6-1 defeat at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan.
