North Korea conducts test launch of tactical ballistic missile

On Monday, North Korea conducted a tactical ballistic missile test, according to state media. The Korean Central News Agency reported the event, which occurred just a day after South Korea's military announced North Korea had launched various types of ballistic missiles towards the Sea of Japan, with some reaching over 900 kilometers.

The test firing, as per KCNA, is part of the routine operations of the Missile Administration and its affiliated research institutes, aimed at enhancing the technological base of weapon systems. While the KCNA report did not specify the missile's flight distance, the state broadcaster quoted the Missile Administration as stating it was a significant success, marking a substantial improvement in the performance and sophistication of all offensive weapon systems.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un attended the inauguration of the National Defense Revolution Museum, which displays the history of the country's weapons development. Images from the inauguration revealed items on display, including the Hwasong-20 next-generation ballistic missile, unveiled at a military parade in Pyongyang in October of the previous year, a hypersonic warhead, and a submarine-launched ballistic missile.

Kim, accompanied by his wife and daughter, referred to the museum as the "immortal archive" and "greatest national treasure house" that showcases how the dignity and security of North Korea and the happiness of its people are defended. He added that the weaponry, serving as stepping stones to the dramatic promotion of the nation's position, would be further developed and completed in a more strenuous manner, with the museum's scale and content to be expanded and enriched.
