New ways to drive smarter discovery, deeper engagement, and business growth on Google Play

Google Play is rolling out new ways for developers to connect with users and grow their business. Earlier this year, Google announced tools to improve app and content discovery. Now, those features are being expanded. App comparisons on Ask Play now generate side-by-side app comparisons directly in search results, helping users compare subscription models or offline capabilities to choose the right app.

Game finder, which tailors recommendations based on gameplay habits and community reviews, is rolling out to English-language users in the US. Play in Gemini, which connects app recommendations to store listings and user requests, now includes voice conversations through Gemini Live. To optimize apps for these features, developers should keep store descriptions fresh, use high-resolution media, validate deep links, and integrate Engage SDK for personalized content across surfaces.

New social features include Playbacks in Sidekick, Sprints for short, competitive challenges, and Quests for rewarding progress with in-game rewards. Developers can also integrate Game Stats and Play Games Rewards for daily streaks and ongoing in-game rewards. Finally, participating in Google's Apps Experience and Level Up programs can reward great user experiences with lower service fees.
