Apple has unveiled a new Apple Siri Remote that introduces Find My with Precision Finding and a speaker capable of emitting a sound, helping users locate their remote in couch cushions. The new Apple TV 4K features an A19 chip, which grants access to the improved Siri. For the first time, the Apple TV includes built-in microphones, allowing users to engage with Siri independently of the remote.
The A19 chip also incorporates an AV1 decoder, promising high-quality streaming with reduced bandwidth. Users can now connect up to four second-generation HomePods or four HomePod mini 2 to create a surround-sound setup, although speakers must match their type. Significantly, the new Apple TV now has a higher 128GB storage tier and is priced at $299, up from the previous $199/$249.
The new Siri Remote is sold separately and works with both older Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K devices; Precision Finding requires the latest fourth-generation model. Pre-orders are available now, with shipping expected on November 13.
