Mumbai Crime: Anti-Corruption Bureau Arrests Naigaon Police Headquarters Clerk For Allegedly Accepting Bribe Over Salary Bill

Mumbai, October 13, 2026 - The Mumbai Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Naigaon police headquarters clerk Badrinath Thorave (40) for allegedly accepting a bribe over salary arrears, the bureau reported. Thorave demanded and allegedly took Rs 35,000 from a policeman who was on sick leave for 294 days. After recovering from sick leave, the policeman was given leave for 248 days, with the remaining days unpaid.

The clerk demanded the bribe to prepare an outstanding salary bill and get it approved by the treasury. Upon accepting Rs 10,000 through a phone call, the complainant refused to pay the remaining Rs 25,000 and filed a written complaint with the ACB on September 16. During verification on September 16 and October 7, it was revealed that Thorave had accepted an additional Rs 5,000 bribe during a trap operation on Tuesday. The ACB recovered Rs 5,000 in cash and a mobile phone from the accused.
