Marvel Tokon Reveals Year 1 DLC Roster With Venom and Female Thor

Marvel Tokon has unveiled their Year 1 DLC roster, featuring Venom and Female Thor, at EVO France. The DLC lineup kicks off with Phoenix Cyclops on November 2, 2026, followed by Thor (Jane Foster) in winter 2027, Venom in spring 2027 with a new Klyntar stage, and Jubilee in summer 2027. Fans can purchase individual characters or the Stage Pass to access the full Year 1 roster.

While many anticipated Thor Odinson, the trailer showcased Jane Foster's Mighty Thor, causing a mixed reaction from the community. This unexpected choice aligns with Marvel Tokon's tradition of surprising players, similar to previous roster drops like Phoenix Cyclops. Despite the initial surprise, the announcement didn't generate much online chatter compared to past reveals.

Players and EVO viewers have expressed concerns about assists being too powerful and easy to spam, making matches difficult to follow. Director Kazuto Sekine acknowledged that assist and tag usage exceeded their initial plans and plans to introduce longer cooldowns as part of an upcoming balance patch. A build tested at EVO suggested these changes, indicating a focused effort to address fan feedback.

For Arc System Works, a successful patch could stabilize Marvel Tokon after a challenging post-launch period. The game has been one of the studio's most significant releases recently. However, concerns about a potential "Arc System Works curse" persist, as some fans fear the studio's titles may fade quickly, similar to a trend of games dying within about six months. Only time will tell if these new additions and adjustments will help Marvel Tokon find its footing.
