MarginLeak : Open-source accounts-payable auditor for small businesses
This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 2: Side Hustle What I Built MarginLeak is an open-source accounts-payable auditor for small e-commerce sellers, independent distributors, and recurring B2B buyers. Small businesses receive invoices from many suppliers and often compare them manually against purchase orders and past prices. That makes it easy to miss a quiet…
MarginLeak is an open-source tool designed to help small e-commerce sellers, independent distributors, and recurring B2B buyers audit their accounts payable. The platform addresses common issues like price increases, over-billed quantities, duplicate lines, and duplicate invoices that can be overlooked during manual reviews. Users can upload an invoice PDF and a purchase order spreadsheet, after which MarginLeak compares the invoice lines to the purchase order lines, even when the descriptions differ.
It also checks historical supplier pricing and presents findings, including the type and severity of discrepancies, the amount at risk, the calculation formula, the invoice page, and a source-text snippet. Users can then review, confirm, dismiss, resolve, or correct these findings, and generate a supplier credit-memo request for confirmed issues.
The platform also provides an estimate of supplier overbilling risk and dispute-win probability based on historical records. MarginLeak is intended for small business owners or bookkeepers processing 50 to 500 invoice lines per month, serving as a specialized accounts-payable SaaS rather than a comprehensive enterprise procurement suite.
The project is licensed under the MIT License and can be accessed through a public hosted demo or its GitHub repository.
