Man charged with murder over shooting death of boy, 12, in Sydney apartment last month

Police have charged a 19-year-old man with murder following the fatal shooting of a 12-year-old boy in Sydney's north last month. The incident occurred on September 21, when police were called to a unit in Norwest around 5pm. Upon arrival, officers discovered the boy with a gunshot wound to his face and neck. He was promptly treated by paramedics before being transported to the hospital in a critical condition. Regrettably, the boy succumbed to his injuries three days later.

At the time of the incident, nine individuals were present in the home, none of whom sustained injuries. Police apprehended three 18-year-old men, but two were subsequently released pending further investigations. The third suspect was brought to the Riverstone Police Station, where he was charged with conceal serious indictable offence.

In an effort to apprehend the perpetrator, detectives from Strike Force Janilo conducted an arrest yesterday. The 19-year-old male, who was 18 years old at the time of the incident, was apprehended at a correctional facility in Silverwater. He is scheduled to make his court appearance today in the Bail Division Local Court.
