Mahama commends IGP, Police Service for improved security and crime investigations

President John Dramani Mahama praised the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and the Ghana Police Service on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, for enhancing public safety, security, and crime investigations across the nation. Mahama highlighted the significance of the 85-bed ward complex inauguration at the Police Hospital in Accra during his address.

The new facility is designed to improve healthcare delivery for police personnel, their families, and the general public, addressing the significant physical and psychological demands faced by officers during their duties. Mahama emphasized the necessity of timely and quality medical care for injured officers and urged the hospital to uphold high standards of hygiene, patient safety, and professional care.

Additionally, Mahama donated two new ambulances to the Police Hospital and pledged the provision of an extra armoured vehicle, along with hospital expansion, to bolster healthcare delivery. The Inspector-General welcomed the commissioning, viewing it as a crucial step towards enhancing access to healthcare for police personnel, their families, and the public.

He affirmed the Police Service's commitment to maintaining the facility and ensuring quality healthcare for all patients. This commissioning is part of the broader initiative to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and support the welfare of the Ghana Police Service personnel.
