IMDA expands digital support for SMEs
Small and medium-sized enterprises can leverage data and AI through partnerships with tech firms
The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) is broadening its assistance for Singapore's small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by aiding them in identifying the most suitable artificial intelligence (AI) solutions and tools for their specific requirements. This enhanced support will be facilitated through collaborations with technology-oriented companies such as Singtel, Stack-EZ, Salesforce, and Beyondsoft, with the aim of helping SMEs integrate AI applications into their operations.
To streamline the process, IMDA will offer SMEs access to 100 vetted AI tools from around the globe, including a complimentary six-month trial to Space, a digital document management platform developed by Stack-EZ, designed to categorize and organize documents like contracts, invoices, and receipts.
IMDA's objective is to empower at least 70% of pre-approved SME solutions with AI capabilities within the next two years. Several SMEs, including aquaculture firm Blue Aqua International and social enterprise Agape CP, have already integrated AI to enhance productivity. Blue Aqua International, for example, utilizes an AI platform to address issues such as overfeeding and water quality in their farm operations, while Agape CP has employed AI to streamline caller identification, sentiment analysis, and provide live agents with context prior to conversations, resulting in improved customer experiences for their clients.
These instances highlight a broader pattern among SMEs, transitioning from AI experimentation to the more extensive adoption of AI technologies within their business models.
