Hillary Clinton, Kara Swisher Team Up for Midterms Podcast

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has teamed up with journalist Kara Swisher for a new midterms-focused podcast, titled "High Stakes." This limited series will premiere on October 14th as part of Swisher's New York magazine podcast, "On With Kara Swisher." The podcast will delve into the November elections and their aftermath, discussing topics such as the cost of living, healthcare, and technology, as well as covering the races for control of Congress.

The partnership between Clinton and Swisher extends beyond the election, with Vox Media planning additional projects involving both of them. Clinton also hinted at the possibility of continuing the podcast post-midterms if it gains a substantial audience. "I don’t think the stakes for our country and the world have ever been higher than they are in November," Clinton said in a statement.

"People are hungry for real conversation about what’s happening in our democracy and what it will mean for their families, and I can’t think of a better partner for that than Kara."

The series will feature guests with differing viewpoints to debate major issues and identify areas of agreement. The weekly episodes are set to run through mid-November, with Clinton, Swisher, and Vox Media sharing advertising revenue. This collaboration follows an existing relationship, as Clinton previously guest-hosted episodes of Swisher's podcast with Scott Galloway, titled "Pivot," in August.

Swisher jokingly described their partnership as "Pivot," but with an actual expert as her co-host, stating, "She’s a global icon, she doesn’t hold back, and she’s going to bring the audience an invaluable perspective."

Vox Media CEO Jim Bankoff expressed excitement about the partnership, calling Clinton and Swisher "forces of nature" with undeniable chemistry as hosts. The addition of Clinton to Vox Media's podcast network, which also includes "Today, Explained," "How I Built This," and "Stay Tuned" with former federal prosecutor Preet Bharara, strengthens the platform's offerings.
