Governor Sule pledges continued support for NDLEA’s fight against drug abuse

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi A. Sule, has reaffirmed his administration’s steadfast commitment to supporting the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in its ongoing battle against drug trafficking and substance abuse throughout the state. During a visit to Government House, Lafia, on Monday, Sule met with the newly appointed Commander of Narcotics of the NDLEA, CN Saidu Daniel Saidu, and his team.

Sule expressed his gratitude to the commander for sharing insights into the command’s activities and accomplishments since his appointment. He emphasized that the state government is fully prepared to bolster its partnership with the agency to tackle the challenges posed by illicit drugs, while simultaneously safeguarding public health and security.

Sule also recognized the critical importance of ongoing collaboration between the government and law enforcement agencies in addressing drug-related offenses and curbing substance abuse.

Earlier, the commander acknowledged the state government’s unwavering support and reiterated his desire for the establishment of a drug rehabilitation center within the state. He argued that such a facility would greatly contribute to the treatment, rehabilitation, and reintegration of individuals affected by substance abuse. In addition, the commander highlighted recent operational successes, including the seizure of illicit drugs and the eradication of cannabis farms in Awe and Kokona Local Government Areas.

Saidu assured Governor Sule that the NDLEA will intensify enforcement operations, public awareness campaigns, and community engagement efforts to curb drug abuse and trafficking across Nasarawa State. As a token of goodwill, the commander presented a War Against Drug Abuse banner and copies of the NDLEA’s in-house magazine to the governor.
