Google has rolled out Gemini 4 Argon, its frontier artificial intelligence model, to subscribers of its Pro and Ultra tiers of the Gemini app. Argon arrives two weeks after the model debuted with cybersecurity professionals. For Pro and Ultra subscribers, the new tasks mode allows Gemini to continue working on a job even when they are away from their computer.
The model's responses are reported to be more direct with less hedging and it provides progress updates more frequently for longer jobs. The app now supports over 40 connected apps, ranging from ordering groceries on Instacart to booking tables on OpenTable. Argon also boasts significant advancements in coding, with Google's benchmark test showing 77.9% performance compared to 74.2% for Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5.
As part of a wider release, Google opened up the use of Argon for developers through the paid tier of the Gemini application programming interface. Introductory pricing for the first million input and output tokens is $2 and $10 respectively, set to double on November 30. Google is also offering free access for up to 10,000 researchers for six months.
Cybersecurity teams can access Argon with reduced restrictions through the Fairwind Program. The tasks mode is currently available in select countries and Argon is still being rolled out to Pro subscribers.
