GametimeCT boys soccer power rankings, week 5 (Oct. 13): Three new teams join the Top 10

Week 5 of GametimeCT's boys soccer power rankings reveals three new teams joining the Top 10. The long-time No. 8 Bethel, No. 9 Trumbull, and No. 10 Avon have been replaced by Fairfield Prep, Hand, and New Milford. New Milford stands out as the only team in Connecticut to have won every game, including a victory over Weston. Hand has only lost once, to No. 3 Xavier, while Fairfield Prep has won seven straight games without a single loss.

Bethel fell out after a 1-1 tie with Kolbe Cathedral, Trumbull after a 2-1 loss to Wilton, and Avon after a single week due to back-to-back ties against Simsbury and Hall. Despite a 0-0 tie against FCIAC rival Greenwich, Staples remains at the top, only slipping to No. 1 due to its 3-0 win over Greenwich. Greenwich took the second spot after avenging a previous loss to Glastonbury, while Xavier stayed at No. 3.

The upcoming game between No. 7 Stamford and Xavier on Monday could be crucial. Stamford held onto No. 7 after a 0-0 tie against Simsbury and a loss to Danbury, while Glastonbury and South Windsor face off on Tuesday, representing two powerful CCC teams.
