East Greenwich’s Claudia Hollingsworth delivers Senior Night win
The win halts a two-game skid for EG, one that was assured by Scarlett Ruff's clean sheet.
East Greenwich's Claudia Hollingsworth secured a memorable Senior Night victory against Smithfield on Monday. The scene unfolded during a scoreless first half at Carcieri Stadium, leaving the aspiring goalkeeper reluctant to anticipate such a moment. Hollingsworth capitalized on the opportunity, striking the ball into the net in the 48th minute for a 1-0 Division I triumph.
Scarlett Ruff, another senior, contributed a first clean sheet for the Avengers since late September. Vivian Gelzhiser's defensive effort led to a perfect cross delivered by Elizabeth Low, which Hollingsworth expertly converted. Hollingsworth praised her team's communication and intensity, stating their practices have been intense and they possess the capability to rise in the rankings. Smithfield, on the other hand, did not score during the match.
