Canada PM Carney to be Republic Day chief guest?

On Tuesday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a phone conversation with Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney. The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to finalizing the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement and doubling bilateral trade by 2030. Modi is set to visit Canada in December, on his way to the G20 summit in the US, where the trade agreement is expected to be finalized.

Canada's foreign minister Anita Anand and trade minister Maninder Sidhu are currently visiting India. The two countries plan to build on the positive momentum in their ties and work for concrete outcomes in key areas such as trade, energy, tech security, and people-to-people relationships.
