43 Commercial Properties Sealed in Lahore

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has ramped up its crackdown on urban infractions, dismantling buildings in six unauthorized housing projects and sealing 43 non-conforming commercial establishments. The LDA's town planning units have combined physical demolitions with rigorous digital surveillance and stringent revenue recovery goals to tackle unauthorized construction across Lahore.

Under the guidance of the Chief Metropolitan Planner, demolitions were executed on Sundar-Raiwind Road and Multan Road. Structures belonging to six illegal developments, such as Mashallah Villas, Daman City, Maraka Marketing, Maraka Homes, Maraka City, and New Lahore City, were razed, including boundary walls, offices, roads, and other constructions.

The LDA's Town Planning Wing also enforced a property seal on 43 commercial structures located along GT Road, Allama Iqbal Town, and Gulberg. Ten sites were cordoned off in Allama Iqbal Town, 15 in Gulberg, and 18 on GT Road. The sealed properties encompassed private educational institutions, grocery outlets, beauty salons, cafes, restaurants, food vendors, medical clinics, pharmacies, retail shops, showrooms, and auto repair workshops.

The LDA aims to persist with stringent measures against illegal housing projects, unauthorized commercial constructions, and properties with unpaid fees. Meanwhile, LDA Director General Tahir Farooq convened a revenue enhancement meeting, where town planning targets and auction strategies were assessed. It was noted that monitoring of sealed and released properties occurs through digital tracking systems.

Farooq directed the Auction Director to expedite operations in accordance with the auction schedule and emphasized the need for prompt marketing of the Tech Park on Ferozepur Road. Additionally, the Finance Director was instructed to provide frequent updates on revenue advancements.
