Vote for the LSJ boys high school athlete of week: Oct. 5-10

Eastern, Haslett and Pewamo-Westphalia have this week's athlete of the week candidates.

The Lansing State Journal is currently accepting votes for the boys high school athlete of the week, with voting open until noon on Wednesday, October 14. Three candidates are leading the pack: Kevin Hafner from Pewamo-Westphalia football, Anish Komirisetty from Haslett tennis, and Emmanuel Sande from Eastern soccer.

Hafner played a crucial role in his team's CMAC title victory, scoring a 37-yard field goal and securing all five extra points. He also contributed defensively by intercepting the ball and returning it 21 yards for a touchdown. Komirisetty, the junior tennis player, was instrumental in helping his Vikings secure second place at a Division 3 regional tournament.

He dominated No. 1 singles, defeating Parma Western in straight sets. Sande, a junior midfielder on the Eastern soccer team, sealed the Quakers' triumph in the CAAC Gold Cup final with a decisive penalty kick during the shootout, after Eastern edged out Okemos.
