Taye Diggs' microseries platform, Microhouse Films, has unveiled its fall slate, including a slate of filmmakers and original series set to debut in October, TheWrap has confirmed. Among the projects launching this season is "The Count," an election thriller from Ninety Degree Films, executive produced by Janessa Goldbeck and Eric Schmeltzer and directed by Gary and Edmund Entin. The film will make its debut at the Alza festival on October 18.
Additionally, "Reunion Island," a psychological thriller produced by Microhouse Films and Lifetime, will premiere at the inaugural vertical video festival. In a statement, Diggs expressed his commitment to providing filmmakers a home where they maintain control over how their stories reach audiences. "These filmmakers are the very storytellers we built the platform for, and series like 'The Count' demonstrate how potent a vertical series can be when the narrative aligns with the moment."
Miranda Bailey, founder of Cold Iron Pictures and The Film Arcade, will also join the platform's roster. Bailey, known for her work on "Swiss Army Man" and "The Diary of a Teenage Girl," penned and directed "Another Happy Anniversary," which was based on her own award-winning short film. Additionally, Ben Ramsey, recognized as the screenwriter of "The Big Hit," is producing an original animated sci-fi saga titled "Red Tail Mecha."
The series draws inspiration from the legacies of the Tuskegee Airmen and Harlem Hellfighters, blending mecha warfare, African-diaspora futurism, and a musical and cultural backdrop inspired by jazz, R&B, and hip-hop.
Microhouse Films aims to eliminate traditional barriers between content creation, monetization, and audience access. The platform empowers creators and filmmakers to produce, distribute, and monetize directly on the app. The October releases also feature "Children of the Void," a vertical horror film from MonsterBox and writers Griffin Senning and Joseph Taglieri, alongside a dark comedy titled "Raccoon," created by Hayley Sheridan and Maxence Callies.
A musical drama, "Love, Jazzy," from Jasmine Burke ("Beyond the Gates"), rounds out the platform's fall slate. Additional filmmakers and further original content from Microhouse Films will be disclosed in the coming months.
