Bitcoin’s rebound has turned some corporate sellers back into buyers after months of market turmoil.

Strategy buys $21 million worth of Bitcoin as corporate crypto buying shows signs of revival

Corporate crypto giant Strategy has rejoined the Bitcoin buying bandwagon, snapping up over $21 million worth of the cryptocurrency last week. This resurgence in corporate crypto buying comes after the company sold more than 125,000 shares of common stock and utilized $500,000 in cash to fund the purchase. Strategy's total Bitcoin holdings now stand at approximately $70 billion, following five purchases since August.

The recent Bitcoin rally began in mid-August, pushing the price above $77,000 for the first time since May. It has since maintained this level and was trading at $82,600 on Monday morning. Bitcoin's resurgence follows a steep decline from a high of $126,000 last October to a low of $58,000 in June. During this period of uncertainty, Strategy sold portions of its Bitcoin stockpile four times, but as the price rebounded, the company stopped selling and began accumulating again.

Strategy is not alone in its renewed interest in Bitcoin. Other major players have returned to corporate crypto buying as well. Asset manager Strive, cofounded by billionaire Vivek Ramaswamy, made a $169 million investment in 2,000 Bitcoin, bringing its holdings to about $2.4 billion. Robinhood, the popular crypto trading platform, also joined the trend with a $25 million investment in its own balance sheet.

Japanese investment firm Metaplanet announced a Q3 Bitcoin purchase, selling 10,000 Bitcoin and buying 11,000 to demonstrate its ability to convert holdings into cash when needed.

While many companies are stockpiling Bitcoin, Bitmine, a Bitcoin miner-turned-Ethereum treasury company, has also added $41 million worth of the cryptocurrency to its treasury. This purchase brings Bitmine's holdings to approximately 6 million tokens, or nearly 5% of Ether's total supply. The renewed buying spree is fueled by Bitcoin's recovery, despite recent interest rate hikes in the United States and rising tensions in the Middle East.

Analysts predict further gains for the cryptocurrency, with one strategist forecasting a summer bottom followed by a rebound toward $100,000.
