Regenesys online high school opens in Joburg

The Regenesys group has established the first online high school in Johannesburg, ahead of its planned January 2027 launch. The opening event on Thursday brought together education, government, and ICT sector representatives to discuss expanding online learning access. Regenesys has already registered over 100 learners and will offer Cambridge International CAPS curriculum.

The school provides courses from Lower Secondary to IGCSE, Advanced Subsidiary, and Advanced Level, recognized by universities worldwide. Cambridge follows an internationally-oriented curriculum, while CAPS aligns with South Africa's national curriculum and leads to the National Senior Certificate. Cambridge has only three fully-approved online schools in Southern Africa, making Regenesys one of them.

Sub-Saharan Africa has 600 Cambridge schools overall, and this makes Regenesys the third fully-approved online school. The school's model combines live, teacher-led lessons with a structured timetable, academic support, and parental access to progress and attendance information. Regenesys Online School is 100% online and starts classes in January 2027.

The school's CEO, Thami Xango, emphasized the importance of individual attention for every learner and parental visibility into their children's progress. South African Comprehensive Assessment Institute head Chipo Chibaya reminded that online learning does not waive curriculum coverage, assessment, and examination requirements.

Regenesys Education founder and chairman Dr Marko Saravanja highlighted that the school aims to develop learners' emotional and spiritual intelligence, compassion, humility, and a sense of purpose, beyond academic performance.
