Real Madrid icon issues Champions League challenge to Barcelona: ‘Let’s see if they fight for it’

Former Real Madrid player Guti has challenged Barcelona to fight for the Champions League title in their upcoming El Clasico against the Catalan giants. The season's first El Clasico is just around the corner, with Barcelona set to host Real Madrid on October 25. While Barcelona are currently considered the favorites, Guti believes the match will be far from a foregone conclusion.

Guti, speaking to El Chiringuito, stated that Barcelona might not dominate Real Madrid in the upcoming clash. He noted that despite Barcelona's impressive start to the season, winning all their matches so far, they still lack the UEFA Champions League trophy. Guti expressed curiosity to see if Barcelona can muster the determination to fight for the prestigious European title.

Although Guti hasn't identified anyone who can match Barcelona's dominance, he pointed out that Real Madrid has already claimed six UEFA Champions League titles in recent years. He also acknowledged Barcelona's unique qualities, such as their composure and the effective integration of foreign players. However, he maintained that the Spanish club still possesses a strong sense of unity, even amidst their inconsistent performance this season.

Guti concluded by affirming that Real Madrid's unity will be put to the test in the Champions League against AS Roma on the same day, as Barcelona prepares to face Galatasaray in their own Champions League fixture.
