With this, the strength of the TVK in the 234-member House has gone up to 109
On October 12, 2026, newly-elected Tamil Nadu TVK MLAs Maragatham Kumaravel and P. Sathyabama took their oaths in the presence of Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar. Kumaravel won the election from Madurantakam, a constituency reserved for Scheduled Castes, while Sathyabama was elected from Dharapuram. Both MLAs had previously been members of the AIADMK party but resigned to join the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
The TVK subsequently renominated them, leading to their victory in the byelections. Following their re-election, the TVK's strength in the 234-member House increased to 109.
