Kundi, Naqvi vow coordinated anti-terror push as K-P holds first Apex Committee meeting under governor’s rule

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi vowed on Monday to coordinate closely against terrorism as K-P began its first Apex Committee meeting under governor's rule. The meeting, chaired by Kundi, took place at Governor's House and included members of the Advisory Council and senior officials.

Kundi emphasized that eliminating terrorism was the top priority, even if it meant sacrificing development. He stressed the need for stronger support and resources for law enforcement agencies, as the police and Counter-Terrorism Department are the front-line force in the fight against terrorism. Naqvi echoed this sentiment, pointing out that the provincial government and security forces had been requesting cooperation from the federal government for the past two-and-a-half years without success.

He called for the return to a five-district security plan, which would provide additional support to police officers in phases, as they currently lack the necessary equipment and facilities to effectively combat terrorism. Naqvi also praised the public for maintaining peaceful protests and urged the new administration and security institutions to work together, confident that improved coordination and sustained efforts would yield results.
