KLIA Ekspres, Transit Services Disrupted By Cable Theft

KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit services are currently facing disruptions due to two instances of signalling cable theft along the rail corridor. Express Rail Link (ERL), responsible for both services, announced that train operations have resumed as a combined service. The first incident occurred around 9pm on October 11th, involving the theft of 180 metres of cable between Putrajaya & Cyberjaya Station and Salak Tinggi Station, near KM44.

A second incident was reported at around 5.22am on October 12th, where 80 metres of cable were taken from KM42. These thefts have extended restoration efforts, causing delays and requiring passengers to change trains at Putrajaya & Cyberjaya Station. Shuttle services were implemented, with trains running every 15 minutes between KL Sentral and Putrajaya & Cyberjaya Station from 8:55am, and between KLIA Terminal 2 and Putrajaya & Cyberjaya Station from 9:05am.

ERL is working to restore the system safely and quickly. Passengers are advised to allow extra travel time and adjust their travel plans, though a specific resumption date for normal service intervals has not been provided. Additionally, ERL plans to raise KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit fares by January 1st, 2027, with standard one-way adult tickets increasing from RM55 to RM65, and return tickets from RM100 to RM118.

Child fares will also see an increase, with one-way tickets rising from RM25 to RM29, and return tickets from RM45 to RM53.
