Kipruto wins Chicago marathon on third attempt as Iten residents went frenzy

Amos Kipruto, a 34-year-old athlete from Iten, secured his second major marathon win of the year by triumphing in the 48th Chicago Marathon. Upon crossing the finish line, celebrations erupted back in Iten as residents tuned in to watch the race at the World Athletics Heritage Centre. Kipruto clocked an impressive 2 hours, 1 minute, and 9 seconds, finishing ahead of Ethiopian runners Tadese Bikila and Milkesa Mengesha, who placed second and third, respectively.

This victory marked Kipruto's third attempt at the Chicago Marathon, following 2nd place finishes in 2022 and 2023. The event, attended by athletes, coaches, fans, and family members, celebrated Kipruto alongside other Kenyan athletes like Sharon Lokedi and Brigid Kosgei. Bank of Africa Kenya, recognizing the significance of supporting athletes, encouraged individuals to utilize their Mwanariadha account for wise financial investments and affordable loans.

In the women's race, Sharon Lokedi and Brigid Kosgei placed 2nd and 3rd, while Ethiopia's Feysa successfully defended her title with a time of 2 hours, 13 minutes, and 33 seconds.
