Islamabad Police Arrests Gang Behind US Student Visa Scam With Laiba Ejaz

Police have arrested a gang accused of conning Laiba Ejaz into believing they could facilitate her higher education abroad, a fraud case that allegedly caused her suicide in Islamabad. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the suspects, Nauman, Fatima Sarwar and Aiza, extorted Rs9.3 million from Laiba under the pretense of securing a US visa and scholarship.

The victim was additionally provided with counterfeit scholarship documents, university acceptances, and fee receipts, as per the FIR. Devastated by the revelation that her dreams of studying in the United States were nothing but a scam, Laiba took her own life on October 9 due to overwhelming financial strain and mental anguish.

Police and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) are widening the investigation, probing the potential involvement of additional individuals in the fraudulent scheme. The incident is reported by ProPakistani.
