India Closes Metro Service Like Pakistan

Delhi authorities closed six metro stations and imposed traffic restrictions on Monday, ahead of opposition parties marching to the Supreme Court. They planned to submit a memorandum to the Chief Justice, demanding an end to alleged "vote theft" and Gyanesh Kumar's resignation as Chief Election Commissioner. The protests followed a voter list verification exercise last year, which removed over 130 million names.

This included 28 million deceased voters, 63 million relocated individuals, and 30 million untraceable citizens. Opposition parties, particularly Congress, allege that the exercise favors Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and disproportionately impacts Muslim voters and other minorities. However, the Election Commission denies any political bias, stating that wrongly removed voters can re-enroll. The BJP also rejects the allegations.
