Hotline Documentary: ‘Silent Football’ airs on JoyPrime and JoyNews today

A brand new documentary from Hotline/JoySports, titled Silent Football: When Passion Speaks Without Words, is set to premiere on JoyPrime and JoyNews on Monday, October 12, 2026. This film delves into the remarkable journey of Ghana’s deaf footballers and the hurdles they encounter as they strive to fulfill their dreams. Directed by Haruna Mubarak, the documentary offers a glimpse into the world of deaf football in Ghana, following players from their respective clubs all the way to the national team, the Black Wonders.

Through the lens of players and football administrators, the documentary showcases how the team trains, communicates, and competes, relying on visual cues, gestures, and instinct to play a sport often dominated by sound. Beyond the excitement of the game, Silent Football sheds light on the struggles faced by the Black Wonders, particularly regarding the support provided to players who have represented Ghana in international competitions.

Despite their accomplishments on the continental and regional levels, the team continues to wrestle with securing the necessary resources and institutional backing to compete on the global stage.
