Former security guard arrested for murder of five-year-old girl in Kowkoor over ₹20 lakh ransom
Residents of the gated community gathered at the Malkajgiri Police Commissioner’s camp office in Begumpet, raising concerns over children’s safety while parents are away at work.
A former security guard, Vikram Kumar, was arrested for the murder of five-year-old girl Aurelia, also known as Monu, in Kowkoor. The child's body was found hidden in a water sump at the gated residential community. According to police, Kumar had planned to extort ₹20 lakh from Aurelia's parents before killing her, as keeping her captive until the ransom was paid would be difficult.
The alleged kidnapping and murder took place on October 10, 2026, and Kumar was apprehended on October 11. He had previously worked at the same community, Villa Orchids, but had been employed there for only four days prior to the incident. The police are seeking capital punishment for the accused and have urged gated communities to strengthen background verification of security staff.
