Evergreen Max makes Sabah, Sarawak debut
KUALA LUMPUR: Evergreen Max Cash Capital Bhd is entering Sabah and Sarawak with four new pawnbroking licences approved by the Housing and Local Government Ministry.
KUALA LUMPUR: Pawnbroking firm Evergreen Max Cash Capital Bhd has launched four new outlets in Sabah and Sarawak after receiving approval for four new pawnbroking licences from the Housing and Local Government Ministry. The new locations are spread across Kota Kinabalu and Kuching. Group managing director Datuk Low Kok Chuan commented that the approval represented a significant milestone in the group's expansion efforts.
"Our current priority is to establish our operational presence in East Malaysia while leveraging our experience in the management and expansion of our existing pawnbroking network across Peninsular Malaysia," Low stated. Since its listing in September 2023, Evergreen Max has expanded its outlet network from 22 locations to 102 as of June 30, 2026.
This expansion has also contributed to stronger financial performance, with revenue increasing by 34.2 percent year-on-year to RM127.1 million in the six months ending June 30, 2026, compared to RM94.7 million. Net profit also surged 69.3 percent to RM27.6 million from RM16.3 million during the same period.
The company attributes this growth to higher pawn loan disbursements and increased revenue from its pawnbroking operations. Low added that pawnbroking offers accessible short-term financing, especially for individuals who lack access to conventional banking and credit facilities. Evergreen Max remains optimistic about its growth prospects, emphasizing that the expansion into East Malaysia provides a new avenue for expansion, complementing its existing operations in Peninsular Malaysia.
The company will continue to identify strategic locations for future expansion while prioritizing disciplined capital deployment and prudent risk management to deliver long-term shareholder value.
