Premier League legend Jamie Carragher has declared Manchester City and Arsenal as the only true contenders for the title, describing them as England's best teams "by miles". Manchester City began the 2026/27 season with a dominant 3-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield, netting twice in just six minutes after Gravenberch's red card. Carragher expressed pride for Man City fans, but warned that the team's continued dominance must be resolved soon to give the title race meaning.
Arsenal had tied points with City after beating Leeds United, but the victory in Liverpool restored City's three-point lead. Carragher admitted it's too early to definitively say which team is stronger, but insists City and Arsenal are the only teams capable of competing for the Premier League title.
