Enemy cuts power to over 9,600 consumers in Zaporizhia region in a week – Zaporizhiaoblenergo

Zaporizhiaoblenergo, the power supplier in the Zaporizhia region, has successfully restored electricity to over 9,600 consumers who had been cut off by shelling from Russian occupation forces over the past week. The company reported that the most challenging day was Saturday, when guided aerial bombs hit the city, causing human casualties, destruction of homes, and damage to their equipment.

Crews had to rebuild two transformer substations from the ground up, with one of them struck directly by a bomb. Additionally, three overhead and cable power lines were damaged, and several more addresses were temporarily taken offline for emergency rescue operations.

Out of the affected consumers, 588 in Zaporizhia had their power restored before nightfall. The company also managed to reconnect over 8,800 families in the Orikhiv and Novomykolaivka areas, as well as the surrounding territory. Stasevsky, the head of Zaporizhiaoblenergo, reported another instance of a drone attack on a substation in the Orikhiv area, which fortunately did not result in any injuries to their personnel.

Another drone became entangled in the wires, causing an outage for 452 subscribers, who were subsequently reconnected.

Although the security situation remains tense, Zaporizhiaoblenergo managed to restore power within a short timeframe. However, the Kushuhum community continues to face the most difficult power supply situation, with local residents left in the dark on Sunday afternoon due to shelling by the invaders. Supply was eventually restored before dark on Monday, but enemy attacks again damaged the power grids early the following morning.

As of now, more than 3,600 families in the villages of Balabyne and Kushuhum are without electricity. The company plans to begin repairs as soon as a momentary lull in the attacks presents itself.
