Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced digital QR tickets for the Dubai Metro, Tram and public buses. These tickets can be purchased and used directly from smartphones via the nol Pay or S hail apps. To buy a ticket, open the app, select the desired ticket type (Single Trip or 1-Day Pass), choose the travel zone, and complete the payment.

A digital QR code will be instantly issued in the app, valid for 90 days from purchase. The tickets require an active internet connection to display and use; screenshots will not work as the QR code refreshes automatically.

Scan the QR ticket at Metro entrances using your phone with the QR code facing the scanner at the blue entry gate. For buses, hold your phone over the red nol reader near the entrance with the screen facing upwards. To scan at the Tram, display the QR ticket in the app and scan it at the designated nol reader.

Single-trip ticket fares include a Dh2 service fee. One zone Regular Class tickets cost Dh6, Gold Class Dh10; two adjacent zones Regular Class tickets cost Dh8, Gold Class Dh14; and all zones Regular Class tickets cost Dh10.50, Gold Class Dh19.
