DATA Network joins Sui and Walrus to scale the supply chain for AI training data

Palo Alto, United States, October 12th, 2026, Chainwire The DATA Network, a leading provider of rights-cleared AI training data, has joined forces with Sui and Walrus to enhance the supply chain for AI training data. Trace, the onchain registry for rights-cleared AI training data, is bringing its extensive training data to the Sui and Walrus platforms to power the next generation of AI models.

Sui Foundation and The DATA Foundation announced that the DATA Network and Trace registry will be integrated into the Sui stack, providing a live supply of rights-cleared AI training data on top of Sui's infrastructure for AI workloads. Walrus, a data platform with integrity proofs anchored on Sui, will become the default storage layer for applications operated by the DATA Foundation.

The DATA Network will also be upgraded to run as a protocol natively on Sui, enabling AI labs to source real-world training data with provenance recorded by Trace and the original file stored and access-controlled on Walrus. This integration aims to meet the demands of the next generation of AI models, which require access to personal, regulated, and consented data that is typically found outside the open web.

The integration has received backing from a significant investment from the Sui Foundation, establishing the largest institutional stake in the network.
