Dan Levy Slams Shane Gillis’ ‘SNL’ Monologue: “Speechless That Something Like That Can Exist On Live National Television”

Dan Levy, the co-creator and star of "Schitt's Creek," took to Instagram to criticize comedian Shane Gillis and "Saturday Night Live" (SNL) after Gillis' monologue left him "speechless." During his October 10 "SNL" appearance, Gillis made a joke about women dressing in short shorts at the gym, stating, "I haven't been to the gym in so long, I didn't know women just dress like whores now."

Levy responded by calling out Gillis and stating that the joke was deeply offensive. He argued that the joke trivializes sexual assault and that men need to be more vocal in their opposition to it. According to Levy, the issue is not just a women's issue but an "everybody issue" because objectifying women in the media contributes to their objectification in real life.

Levy ended his Instagram post by expressing his frustration and disappointment, saying, "f—k!" The comment Levy made has been met with support from several female celebrities, including Hannah Einbinder and Elizabeth Banks.
