Bessent says Europeans have paid Moscow more than they have given Ukraine since 2022
European countries have paid Russia more money than they have provided to Ukraine since Moscow launched its full-scale invasion in 2022 because they remain dependent on Russian energy, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in an interview with Fox News on Oct. 11, defending Washington's controversial diesel deal with Moscow.
