Alex Trebek's $500K gift turned old rink into homeless shelter
In 2020, Alex Trebek and his wife, Jean, donated $500,000 to Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission. Two years later, their contribution had helped turn a shuttered, 60-year-old roller rink in Los Angeles into the 23,000-square-foot Trebek Center, a 107-bed homeless shelter designed to provide accommodation and mental health services to people experiencing homelessness.
