Wanita PKR lodges police report against Eric See-To over alleged mockery of Quranic verse

Wanita PKR has filed a police report against the owner of a Facebook account named Eric See-To, or Lim Sian See, for allegedly making fun of a Quranic verse. Farahida Fauzi, an executive committee member of Wanita PKR, reported the incident to the Kuantan District Police Headquarters. She called for an immediate, transparent, and impartial investigation, emphasizing that if a violation of the law is found, appropriate action must be taken promptly.

Farahida, also Pahang deputy chief of Wanita PKR, warned the public against ridiculing religion to gain attention, provoke others, or gain popularity. Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh had previously urged the individual to issue a public apology for allegedly disrespecting a Quranic verse, describing it as belittling a sacred text.

Furthermore, Dr Zulkifli Hasan, the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department for Religious Affairs, stressed the importance of respecting the sanctity of the Quran and the potential offense caused by ridiculing or insulting its words.
