Tennessee football vs Alabama designated for ABC kickoff, how to watch
Tennessee faces Alabama in a pivotal rivalry game that could determine the Vols' path to the college playoffs.
Tennessee football will face off against Alabama in an ABC nationally televised game. The highly anticipated rivalry match is scheduled for October 17th at 3:30 p.m. ET, taking place at Neyland Stadium. For the Volunteers (5-1, 2-1), a loss could result in a mediocre season, whereas a victory against the Tide (5-1, 3-1) could pave the way for a College Football Playoff berth.
Following their 24-17 win over Arkansas on October 10th, Tennessee and Alabama have split the previous two encounters. The two coaches, Josh Heupel from Tennessee and Kalen DeBoer from Alabama, have a long-standing relationship that spans over twenty years. The Vols have defended their home ground in recent matchups, with Alabama leading the all-time series 61-40-7.
However, in the last five meetings during the Heupel tenure, Tennessee has emerged victorious twice, winning 52-49 in 2022 and again 24-17 in 2024. The most recent contest was held in Tuscaloosa in 2025, where Alabama triumphed 37-20. This report first surfaced on the Knoxville News Sentinel website.
