Temporary lane closures, diversions on Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway starting Oct 12 for elevated U-turn works

GEORGE TOWN, Oct 11 — The rightmost lanes on both the George Town and Bayan Lepas-bound carriageways of the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway will be temporarily shut down from October 12 to February 28, 2027. IJM Land Berhad revealed this during a statement on October 11, explaining that the closures are part of the next phase of construction for an elevated U-turn.

The statement added that the lane closures and traffic diversions are necessary to ensure a safe workspace for the construction. The developer, THE LIGHT Waterfront Penang, noted that the initial phase of the elevated U-turn project was completed in early September, and once finished, it will enhance road connectivity and traffic flow along the expressway.

Motorists are advised to plan their trips in advance, follow signs directing them, and drive carefully near the affected sections. IJM Land emphasized that it values the public's patience and understanding during the construction period, promising to provide further updates as the project advances.
