Pargat Singh says ‘Congress is united’ as he takes charge of Punjab unit

Congress MLA and former Indian hockey captain Pargat Singh officially assumed leadership of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee on Sunday, declaring "Congress is united." The responsibility was formally transferred by Sachin Pilot, a key Congress figure as AICC General Secretary. Speaking to party workers in Chandigarh, Singh emphasized that Congress had a duty not only to contest elections but also to represent the people and advocate for their rights.

He assured that the party would address the expectations of all sections, from farmers to young people, and pledged to stand firmly for justice and a secure future for Punjab.

Singh asserted that the Congress was united, vowing to confront the failures of a system that has disregarded people's entitlements. He highlighted the importance of understanding the sentiments of individuals seeking justice in sacrilege cases and supporting their cause. Singh criticized Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), urging the government to concentrate on addressing Punjab's pressing issues rather than focusing on the Congress team.

He praised the party's experienced leadership and dedicated workers, mentioning prominent Congress leaders like Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Partap Singh Bajwa, and Charanjit Singh Channi to underscore their collective efforts to safeguard Punjab's interests.

Praising the Congress's strategy beyond mere political success, Singh expressed confidence that the unity among Congress workers and public support would bolster the party's standing in the state. Pilot reaffirmed Congress's commitment to not only secure electoral victories but also to win the trust and hearts of the people of Punjab, vowing to fulfill their expectations.
