Malaysia condemns attack on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport that killed civilians, injured hundreds

KUALA LUMPUR, October 11 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has vehemently denounced the fatal assault on Saudi Arabia’s King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which resulted in the loss of civilian lives and left hundreds injured. In a Facebook post today, Anwar stated that the attack claimed the lives of innocent people and left hundreds with injuries, while offering his sympathies to the victims' families and hoping for the speedy recovery of those wounded.

"I unequivocally condemn the attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which has taken innocent lives and left hundreds injured," he declared. Anwar emphasized that striking civilians and civilian installations is unjustifiable, warning that such actions would only exacerbate the turmoil caused by the conflict. "There can be no justification for attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure," he reiterated, adding that endangering innocent lives would only escalate the ramifications of the conflict.

Furthermore, Anwar reaffirmed Malaysia’s support for Saudi Arabia and its populace during this trying time. "Malaysia stands in solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its people at this perilous hour," he affirmed. Anwar expressed the hope that diplomatic initiatives would succeed in averting a further escalation of the conflict, stating that Malaysia remains resolute in its belief that "diplomacy and reason will prevail before the conflict widens still further."
